BTEC Children’s Play, Learning and Development
This course is equivalent to a GCSE and is assessed by means of a number of assignments. Students learn about:
- Physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of young children
- How to ensure that all children are included
- How to make the best use of play to enable children to develop
During the course, students undertake a number of work placements in childcare settings such as a nursery or an infant school and young children are invited into school (with their carers) for parties and outings. Students study the skills that enable them to work effectively in a childcare setting/profession. The school has a specialist room which is used as the teaching room as well as a childcare seating when infant children are invited to the school.
