English Revision
Our Year 11s should have come home with a useful mock revision booklet for English yesterday. There are plenty of helpful revision sites and videos online too (including our TEAMS Revision Library don’t forget!). Do check out some of these to help you feel prepared:

Industrial Strike Action – Wednesday 1st February 2023
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to inform you of our plans for next Wednesday the 1st of February. The NEU have balloted its members and called for industrial action in the form of a series of both regional and national strikes. The first of these strikes is will take place on Wednesday 1st of February.
It is important to stress that every school’s context will be different and individual school approaches will be dependant on their own assessments of risk given the staffing they have available. Senior colleagues at the school and I have considered the implications of this strike and, following a risk assessment process, have come to the decision that we will need to close the school to all students on this day.
I know this will be disappointing and will cause disruption for parents and students, but we must consider the safety of our school community with significantly less supervision available. A large number of teaching staff at Sir William Romney’s School will not be at work on these days.
On this day, no remote learning will be set for any classes. Instead, I would encourage students to engaged with the following online resources:
Oak Learning (fully taught lessons of most curriculum areas. Students can watch lessons connected to the topics they are studying or need to revise) to access Oak Learning click here
The Athelstan Trust Teaching and Learning Resources (some excellent revision videos here for Year 10 and Year 11 on English Language Paper 1 and 2, as well as GCSE maths revision and KS3 English work) to access The Athelstan Trust Teaching and Learning Resources click here
Maths work and revision is available here
In line with our continuing commitment and responsibilities to our students, those in receipt of free school meals will be able to collect a lunch packet from the canteen on Tuesday 31st January at the end of the school day, for the following day.
As you will be aware, there are three further strike days planned that impact Sir William Romney’s School. The dates of these are:
- Thursday 2nd March 2023
- Wednesday 15th March 2023 (This is a planned INSET day Sir William Romney’s School)
- Thursday 16th March 2023
We will continue to review our provision over the course of the next three strike days and keep you updated. The safety of our students will always remain our highest priority.
I must take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support.
Yours sincerely,
Mr R Skipp
Acting Headteacher
