Key Stage 3 Information Evening – Tuesday 19th October

Tutor Information Evening will take place Tuesday 19th October between 4:30 and 7:00pm. Face-to-face Information Evenings have unfortunately been cancelled this term as part of our response to rising positive Covid cases.

Therefore, the forthcoming Tutor Information Evening will take place virtually on our School Cloud platform. This allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers and you will receive an email confirming your appointments.

Appointments can be made from 6pm on Wednesday 13th October and will close at mid-day on Tuesday 19th October. Should you wish to make any changes after this date please contact the school office. Please note that this evening is a tutor evening and you will only be able to make an appointment with your child’s tutor. All parents and carers will receive a letter with instructions on how to access School Cloud.

Ahead of our Information Evening, we advise advise parents and carers to watch the collection of videos recorded uploaded to our You Tube Channel. These videos provide important information about the year ahead and include presentations from your child’s Head of Year, Subject Leaders in English, Maths and Science and guidance around E-Safety.  Please click on the links below to access the videos appropriate to your child:

SWR Open Evening and Mornings

We are delighted that our usual Open Evenings and Mornings are scheduled to take place as live events in the first term.  Our events will take place as follows:

  • Open Evening – Thursday 23rd September (6:30-9:00pm)
  • Open Morning – Monday 27th September (9:15-11:00am)
  • Open Morning – Tuesday 28th September (9:15-11:00am)

Our open events will be the perfect opportunity for pupils in Year 5 and 6 to visit SWR with their families. This will provide guests with a real taste of our aspirational, inclusive and caring ethos across the school.

Our Headteacher, Mr. Bell, will welcome all guests to Open Evening with a presentation before taking tours around all of the subjects and learning areas across the school. We also look forward to welcoming visitors to our Open Mornings which will be an ideal time to actually visit lessons and experience our school working on a day-to-day basis.

GCSE Results 2021

We are pleased to report some outstanding achievements by its students in their GCSEs and BTEC qualifications this summer.

For example, we are very proud of Iola’s achievement of achieving grades 8 and 9 in all her GCSE subjects. Similarly, we are extremely pleased that Emilie and Amy achieved a range of grades from 6 to 9 in Maths, English, Art, PE, Drama, History, Geography and French. Theo also achieved fantastic grades in Music, Computer Science and English Language. Many students displayed great resilience and subsequently made great progress too. For example, Fin achieved grades 7s in PE and Geography, grade 6s in History and English Language while achieving grades 4 and 5 in all other subjects.

This year, following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards. The government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year due to the varying impact of the pandemic.

Jon Bell, the school’s headteacher said: “We are immensely proud of all the work and achievements of our students, especially after such a difficult and disrupted year. Our teachers have worked tirelessly to ensure students are all able to progress onto further education and study, and we look forward to seeing what they will achieve in the future.”

Year Duke of Edinburgh Expedition

Year 9 students have completed their first bronze Duke of Edinburgh expedition today. Lots of fun was had by all, not sure about the camp craft cooking though!

We’re sure that all our students will sleep well tonight as they have walked over 15k. Thank you to all our staff who have enjoyed the day with out trekkers.
