Young Carers Lead: Dr P Dillon (p.dillon@swr.gloucs.sch.uk)
A Young Carer is a child or young person under 18 who provides regular care, assistance, or support to a family member due to:
- Physical disability
- Mental ill health
- Chronic illness
- Learning disability
- Substance misuse
- Long‑term or terminal condition
This may involve practical tasks, emotional support, household responsibilities, or helping siblings.
Sir William Romney’s School is committed to ensuring that all students, including Young Carers, are identified, valued, and supported so they can achieve their full potential. We recognise that some students take on significant caring responsibilities at home, which may impact their wellbeing, attendance, academic achievement, and participation in school life. If you feel your child is a young carer, please contact Dr Dillon (p.dillon@swr.gloucs.sch.uk) to ensure the school are aware and can provide support where appropriate.
Examples of support are outlined on our Young Carers Policy: Click here

We encourage families of all young carers to register with Gloucestershire Young Carers (Gloucestershire Young Carers | Charity | UK)
