Our intent:

The computing department at Sir William Romney’s aims to equip students with the skills to participate in a rapidly changing world through challenging and engaging topics. Students will develop a rich understanding and application in the fundamental principles of computer science by attending lessons that are well-developed, aspirational, and ambitious, inclusive, and supportive which is gained through the high standards of teaching. Computing skills are a major factor in enabling children to be confident, creative, and independent learners and it is our intention that children have every opportunity available to allow them to achieve this.

The Big Picture

Our Key Stage 3 provision is 2 hours per fortnight in years 7 and 8 and then 3 hours per fortnight in year 9. Students will study topics in a chronological order to help them link ideas and knowledge. Five topics are covered in each year and these topics are repeated throughout KS3, but students gain a deeper understanding as they progress through the years.
